FAQ

Q. How long can a lost crown be left out of the mouth before it needs re cementing?
A. A couple of days at most, however, if it is a post crown, this needs to be re-cemented ideally within 24hrs.

Q. Why do we need to use interdental brushes?
A. They help to prevent gum disease, by getting rid of any food and plaque between the teeth, where normal tooth brushing misses and also helps to maintain good oral health.

Q. At what age should I start to bring my child to the dentist?
A. ASAP this helps your child get used to the sound, smells and general environment of the dentist surgery.

Q. How often should I be using floss or Tepe brushes?
A. Ideally every day.

Q. Is an electric toothbrush better than a manual toothbrush?
A. Yes definitely, electric toothbrushes remove far more plaque than a manual toothbrush.

Q. What is the best way to prevent gum disease?
A. Brushing for 2 mins twice a day, flossing or interdental brushing and regular exams and hygiene appointments.

Q. What can I do about my black fillings?
A. Black fillings are amalgam fillings, these are strong but not attractive. The amalgam can be easily removed and replaced with a tooth coloured filling material. ie composite, inlay, onlay or even a crown.

Q. I need an emergency appointment for a lost filling, What can I do?
A. Call the surgery on 01619736890 for an appointment with the Therapist; lost fillings are not an emergency.
